Our gear

Rather than detailing our gear in each post, I thought I would put all the details in one place, with links and photos so that hopefully it answers any questions about what we use and what they're capable of.

Our Pram - Chicco Trio Best Friend 3-in-1 Travel System (Stone grey)

Our pram was a gift from my mom when Little Bear was born and is a 3-in-1 travel system. The base detaches from the seat and has two other options, the baby car seat and the carrycot.

I have loved this pram from the very beginning, don't get me wrong, it has its flaws, but I have seriously put it through its paces and it has never let me down!

It's lightweight and can be assembled, disassembled and folded with one hand which is handy if you have baby in the other arm :) it fits easily into the boot of my car (a Ford Fiesta) along with our bags etc and despite its little front wheels, tackles most terrains easily. The seat (including car seat and carrycot) can forward face or rear face, the seat has three settings so you can lay baby down or sit them up, plus the footrest adjusts, and for pushing ease, the pram handle has a three setting height which is easily adapted for whoever is in control.

All products have their flaws, and for me, the front wheels are it for this pram. They are spring-loaded, which in theory means that they tackle bumps in the road with ease... in actual fact, it means that if you hit a pothole or tree root etc, the front wheels bend rather than go over the obstacle, meaning the pram can tip forward! You do get used to it and learn to handle it, though it often earns itself a few mumbled swear words!

I would recommend this pram for new mums, it's brilliant for walking around the village etc, and great for easily accessible paths in parks, however, in hindsight to our many off-roading adventures, I would probably go for something with bigger wheels if I was to do my time over again.

Our Trike - Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike

This is a recent addition to our transport and has been amazing! We bought ours second hand and it came with all the attachments and was well-loved but in brilliant condition.

This is great for shorter walks where the ground isn't going to get too uneven, so mainly parks with proper footpaths, but it gives Little Bear a different view and is easier to get him in and out of when he wants to walk and explore.

It is lightweight and easy to control, easily comes apart to get into the boot of the car, and will adapt in stages as Little Bear gets bigger into a little trike for him to pedal around on.

We haven't found many flaws yet... it can take bumps pretty aggressively due to it being so light and if the ground is uneven, it can get hard to control and keep in a straight line, but other than that it has been reasonably great so far!

Highly recommend something like this for when you want to get out and about but not drag the pram out with you!

More to come...
